Gaijin Gourmet – Hamazushi! Tokyo’s Best Robot Sushi!

It’s time for another installment of the world famous (and Original) Gaijin Gourmet.

There’s a great restaurant near my house. It’s a “Robot Sushi” restaurant named “Hamazushi.” The food is delicious and it is super cheap. The signs below say, “Sushi train ¥100 a plate,” (about $0.84 USD) but on weekdays, during lunch time, the plates are ¥90 each (about $0.75 USD).

The place is called, “Hamazushi” and this place rocks! It’s the best sushi for the price in the entire world, I reckon. The restaurants are immaculately clean and the service is fantastic. Of course the service is fantastic; this place is basically run by robots!

This particular Hamazushi has about 80 tables. It is packed every weekend. So I came during the week this time, but still they are doing a brisk business…. Notice the waitress in the above photo? No? Why is that, I wonder?

Oh! I see. We don’t need a waitress. This is our table, number 42. Right by the number 42 at the middle top, you can see our touchscreen menu. That’s our waitress for today. She takes the orders and delivers most things to the table.

Let’s see how it works!

Don’t be shy! This touchscreen menu is bilingual and can do Japanese or English. And she never messes up my order!

After I enter my order, then Ms. Touchscreen Waitress takes the order and all of them are delivered to me on our trusty and reliable old friend, Mr. Conveyor!

But, wait a minute! If the orders come down the conveyor, what’s to stop other people from taking my order? Ah? Ms. Touchscreen places my order on a special red tray and when my orders approaches my table (table 42) our beautiful and sexy voiced Ms. Touchscreen waitress says, “Now arriving at gate 42, your order of Maguro (or whatever) sushi!”
The bells ring and you know the order has arrived… Did I mention that kids just GO CRAZY over this restaurant? They love to press the touchscreen and make the orders. They love how our bilingual waitress informs us of our orders approaching… Kids have so much fun! Especially when ice cream or cake is ordered and arrives!

Of course, Ms. Touchscreen Waitress plays funny bells and whistles for the kids when their desserts arrive! Genius!

Different plates of sushi. My wife loves Ankimo…. It’s a seasonal dish kind of like Foie Gras. Of course Hamazushi evens has these delicious offerings.

Tuna! Who doesn’t love tuna? Especially when the fish is freash and delicious and it only costs ¥100 (about $0.84 per dish!) Incredibly good!

My favorite is sashimi. Yep! They have that too! Same food quality and safety; same delicious freshness… Same low price!

Sushi heaven!

Ah? There is a human here (someone has to clean the tables and take special orders!) Great quick service too at Hamazushi.

If you like sushi, and I do, you’ll love Hamazushi… Especially if you are on a budget and/or have kids!

You just cannot beat the quality, food safety, freshness and service of Hamazushi! If you go there, tell them “Mike sent me!” (Oh, but you’ll have to press the “English” button on the touchscreen or she won’t understand what you are saying!

Hamazushi! For price and quality (and fun for the kids) 5 stars! Oh, and free parking!

Top 3 Videos for June 11, 2015! And Japanese Rockabilly Band, Bobby’s Bar!

We’re back for the weekend version of the Top 3 Indies Videos for May 11, 2015. I want to say thanks to all the artists who have been submitting videos to me for review. Much appreciation. And for you readers, thanks too! I hope you dig finding new artists and bands as much as I do!

First up today at #3 are a band from Auckland, New Zealand who took off to Jolly Old London England the first chance they got. They are an Alternative rock trio, Adam, Dave and Joel. Their name is the Popstrangers and they are at #3.

#3) Popstrangers – Heaven – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQs6rGE_1cc

At #2 are those two sisters that seem to be catching fire. Their names are Gwendolyn and Lucy and they are better known as the punk band, Dog Party. This is their newest single!

#2) Dog Party – Peanut Butter Dream – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhg9N-HPKGY

Finally, at this week’s #1 is a punk band from Los Angeles that has been a favorite of mine for quite a while. They beeen on my countdowns before, but this is their first time on the Top 3 Videos. Wikipedia writes:

“FIDLAR is a skate punk/garage punk band from Los Angeles California… The band’s name is an acronym for ‘Fuck It Dog, Life’s a Risk’, a skate mantra gleaned from singer Zac Carper’s former roommates. Originally, FIDLAR went under the name ‘Fuck The Clock’, as referenced in their song ‘Cheap Beer’. Three years after recording their first songs they stepped on stage together with The Black Lips and went on tour with The Hives. In 2012, FIDLAR were named one of Stereogum’s ’40 Best New Bands of 2012′.”

I think you’ll dig this video. It’s got parodies of all sorts of famous videos and pop/rock stars. The Devo “Jocko Homo” parody at about 1:05 into the video floored me! I certainly DID NOT expect that!

#1) FIDLAR – 40oz. On Repeat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJy8VgB83OQ

And finally, as I always like to do, I’d like to introduce you to some of Japan’s unsung heroes. Today is a Rockabilly instrumental trio from Tokyo named Bobby’s Bar. This band rocks and performs at some of Tokyo’s coolest underground dives. I’ve seen them live several times and am always impressed by them.

Today’s Freebie: Bobby’s Bar – Weirdo Jungle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CurIxDKKBJQ

Well, that’s it for this weekend edition. See you next time!

Gaijin Gourmet – Best Soba Chain in Tokyo?Yude Taro and ¥220 Draft Beer?!

Time once again for Gaijin Gourmet. Today’s episode is the definitive episode for people on a budget in Tokyo who want to eat healthy and safe food and love noodles – and draft beer for super cheap (read on!)

Today’s post is about what I think is the best soba restaurant chain in Tokyo. It is a Soba restaurant chain that is all over Tokyo and, in my expert opinion, blows away the competition when it comes to price, quality, taste and cleanliness; Yude Taro (ゆで太郎). Yude Taro has, hands down, the best inexpensive and delicious noodles.

There are other chains that have a similar menu as Yude Taro and might be ¥10 ~ ¥30 cheaper ($0.10 ~ $0.30 USD) per dish, but they can’t touch the taste and food quality. Here I am specifically talking about the big soba chains in Tokyo: Fuji Soba and Yoshi Soba, etc., .. Folks, Yude Taro beats them all hands down.

Yude Taro Near Yoyogi JR Station

Yude Taro Near Yoyogi JR Station

Here is the Yude Taro near Yoyogi station that I go to often. But, you can just look for this blue logo:

ゆで太郎ロゴ Yude Taro logo

ゆで太郎ロゴ
Yude Taro logo

What does “Yude Taro” mean? Well, Taro is the most common boy’s name in Japan. “Yude” means “boiled.” So, “Yude Taro” means something like “Boiled John” or David or Mike….

Here’s their menu that I screen captured from their webpage:

Yude Taro menu

As you can see, most bowls of soba items on the menu are under ¥500 (about $4 USD). If you want a little more, the highest priced set on the entire menu is a fried pork cutlet on rice along with a bowl of soba (top left hand corner photo) at ¥650 (about $5.42 USD). Really, I’ve eaten 1000 times at these stand up soba shops over these last three decades. Yude Taro is the best.

Meal Tickets - With photos!

And you can’t read the menu? It doesn’t really matter as you can see the pictures on the meal ticket machine at every shop.

Yude Taro displays the menu

There’s tens of thousands of these stand-up soba shops in Tokyo. They all have a glass case in front showing the main menu; but just look for the one with the blue logo. Usually, these places are in front of the big train stations and you can find a few competing chains right by each other.

Inside of Yude Taro

Inside of Yude Taro

The Yude Taro I go to has a very large eating area and even seating enough for about 14 people. Don’t even bother going there between 12 noon to 1:00 pm or so. This particular Yude Taro can seat 14, but during the lunch time rush, I’ve been in there when there were more than 25 people eating and another 20 people standing in line. It’s OK, though, because most of the time, you can be in and out of a Yude Taro in 10 minutes so it’s a great deal for the person on the go and on a budget.

Clean Kitchen at Yude Taro

Clean Kitchen at Yude Taro

The noodles are best at all the chains here at Yude Taro because they make the noodles on the premises and then boil. Most of the other chains open a plastic pack with noodles and heat them up. As you know, there’s no way a packaged refrigerated item can beat the taste of a freshly cooked one.

Yude taro soba and egg

This is medium sized soba with a softly boiled egg. ¥470 (about $3.91)… And, as you know, this is Japan so there is no tipping.

Yude Taro soba tenpura

I eat the medium soba, ¥420 (about $3.50) with the fried veggies ¥100 (about $0.83) and grated radish ¥100 (about $0.83). I get a full stomach and the total damages are about 15 minutes at lunch and about $5.16 (USD). What a GREAT deal!

BUT WAIT! WHAT’S THIS???? DRAFT BEER FOR ¥220!???? That’s right! Yude Taro is running a summer 2015 campaign and is offering draft Sapporo Black Label draft beer for  ¥220 (about $1.83 USD) a glass? That’s cheaper per drink than buying a can of beer at the convenience store! AMAZING.

Most cheaper drinking establishments charge twice that price for a draft beer!

¥220 Yen beer campaign over summer!? Wow!

¥220 Yen beer campaign over summer!? Wow!

Yude Taro wins the soba wars. Just look for the blue logo I have shown at the top of this article. Yude Taro is so good that I can honestly say that, if I really had to, I could eat there three meals a days. It’s that good.

Top 3 Artists Videos for June 2, 2015 – It’s Girl’s Nite Out and taffy!

Top 3 Videos for the week of June 2, 2015 time. Time to check out the coolest of the cool new Indies artists videos!

Before I start (and I’ll make this short): ARTISTS! SEND ME LINKS TO YOUR NEW VIDEOS! I WILL HELP PROMOTE YOU! Also these Top 3 Video posts are sometimes getting tens of thousands of hits per week. Let’s make this into the coolest weekly Indies music chart on the entire internet!

And without further ado…. Today’s is the Girl’s Nite Out! All bands with female vocals! And why not? I love bands that have the ladies up front.

First, up we have two sisters from Sacramento California named Dog Party. It seems that when older sister Gwendolyn Giles was 9, she pushed a drum kit into her then 6-year-old sister Lucy’s room and said, “We’re starting a punk band.” And that’s how they got started. Hilarious and monstrously epic!

#3) Dog Party – Los Angeles (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIn0SCdCu5I)

Next up is Bully. Bully are a fired up and hot as hell rock band from Nashville, Tennessee. They have a rock goddess as lead vocal too!

#2) Bully – Brainfreeze (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMeL9WS02bw)

At this week’s #1 a group from London called, Kid Wave. The Guardian says: “Lea Emmery (lead singer) is picture-perfect for the role of sultry indie icon. Her long hair and fringe are offset by her rocker attire….It’s like Nico fronting the Field Mice, until drummer Serra Petale stirs up a crashing rhythm that sends guitarist Mattias Bhatt and bassist Harry Deacon into overdrive, and everything turns a bit Breeders.”

#1) Kid Wave – All I Want (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3VxIGu5MHU)

Finally, today’s Freebie. And it’s a band that just completed a successful tour of the UK and the USA so congrats goes out to Taffy! Taffy are happening…. And guess what? I was the first one to air Taffy in Japan and I put them on a former countdown, so they are like my children. I LOVE THEM! …. Oh, and get this, they have over 78,000 “Likes” on Facebook! Wow! Go “Like” them, please! (https://www.facebook.com/taffy8?fref=ts)

Gaijin Gourmet: The Best Premium Salad Bar in Tokyo? – Sizzler in Setagaya

Looking for the best Salad Bar in Tokyo?

Well, I’ve introduced you to Big Boy, which offers an All-You-Can-Eat Salad bar for ¥590! (about $5 USD + 8% sales tax – no tips in Japan!). But my vegetarian friend, Ken says that, even though he likes Big Boy, if he goes on a date or takes his wife and kids out, they sometimes like Sizzler better.

Sizzler does have a much nicer Salad Bar with a much wider selection of fresh vegetables, but it is nearly 4 times the price of Big Boy; so it’s up to you!

I have to admit, though, when it is a special occasion or birthday, my son always says he wants to go to Sizzler… Even though he likes Big Boy too. The big sales point for him at Sizzler is the All-You-Can-Eat ice cream bar. The all you can eat Salad Bar, Soup Bar and Drink Bar at Sizzler is included in the price of the Salad Bar so that’s to be considered… Whereas, at Big Boy, they are all a separate charge.

And when you have a bunch of kids who want to eat several scoops of ice cream and chocolate (At Big Boy, one ice cream is about ¥300 (about $2.50 USD), then Sizzler does make sense if you are watching your pennies (and have kids – or dad – who eat too many sweets….)

Sizzler is about 6 minutes walk from the west exit of Sakura Shnmachi station on the Denen-Toshi line about 12 minutes from Shibuya heading towards Kanagawa. The restaurant is open from 11 am until 11 pm seven days a week. Here is their webpage (sorry Japanese only!)

The salad bar there is fantastic. The place is extremely clean and kept quite nice. The food is always fresh (I’ve been there dozens and dozens of times).

The all you can eat lunch bar includes bread, soup, drink and dessert bar. Lunch all you can eat is ¥1980 (about $16 USD + 8% sales tax – no tips in Japan!))

Dinner all you can eat is ¥2380 (about $19.18 + 8% sales tax – no tips in Japan!)

It’s the best salad bar deal I’ve ever seen in Tokyo. The food is good, I can relax, and the kids love the place. Everyone can find what they want at Sizzler in Setagaya.

Here, let me allow the photos to do the talking.

Outside view of building from 246 heading toward Shibuya. Beautiful newly reformed building. Parking for about 28 cars.

Quite spacious inside. This photo is about 1/4 of the entire restaurant so it seats a few hundred easily.

Large salad and fruits bar. Seriously, it’s huge and the size of a salad bar you’d see in the United States.

About 21 different vegetables and organic tofu seen here.

12 different mixed salads here…. Seafood salad, Waldorf salad, others…

As well as apples, white and pink grapefruit sliced, bananas, orange slices, pineapple, peaches, as well as diced onions, shredded lettuce, olives, jalapenos, mixed cheese and salsa which is for…

…the burritos you can make yourself. Taco meat and melted cheese for cheese nachos, gratin, spaghetti and curry rice are also available on the salad bar menu at no extra charge…

There is also soup bar that offers at least three types of soup daily

Of course, there are several styles of bread to choose from…

The drink bar offers everything you can think of….

And, of course, the kid’s favorite, the dessert bar. Shoe-cream, coffee cake, chocolate mousse, apple strudel, three flavors of soft cream “ice cream” and chocolate and all sort of goodies that the kids like to sprinkle on top. Beware parents! The chocolate fountain pictured is only out on weekends and weeknights after 6 pm!

Take the west exit from Sakura Shinmachi station. Turn left down Sazai-san street. When you get to the police box turn right and go up the hill. It’s a one-way street. Follow the road up and turn to your left at the end. Sizzler will be on your left. Can’t miss it.

Gaijin Gourmet! Great Cheap and Delicious Soba in Gaienmae on Ginza Line!

Welcome Tokyo travelers to another installment of “Gaijin Gourmet” or “Great places to eat in Tokyo for Super-Cheapskates (like me)” written and researched by me, Mike Rogers, cheap-bastard connoisseur extraordinaire and one of Japan’s top Gaijin experts on good tachi-gui (stand up and eat) soba shops.I’ve been doing these specials shows for your folks who will be traveling to Tokyo for the Tokyo Olympics and don’t want to spend $500 (USD) for a Tuna Sandwich every time you need to eat! (OK. $500 is a bit of an exaggerration… Writer’s privilege and all…)
Today, I’d like to introduce you to a shop named Shinetsu near Gaienmae Station.

This place is excellent soba for the price!

Shinetsu, interestingly, is located right next door to one of the finest (and most expensive) Italian restaurants in Tokyo: Sabatini. I thought that was funny because a fine Italian dinner with some Italian guys singing the same old 8 songs over and over right into your ear at your table as well as wine for two next door at Sabatini can easily run ¥50,000 yen! ($600 USD)

Whereas Sabatini is great for expensive Italian, so is Shinetsu for delicious cheap-assed soba! But, I reckon if you were going on an important date with that special someone or planning to do something stupid, like say, propose marriage, then Sabatini is probably a better bet. Just a guess….

Or, if you have a sense of humor, you could tell her that you are taking her “Someplace special. How about something realy special like Sabatini?” When she smiles and says, “Oh, Brad!” You know you’ve got her! (Get it? It is like Sabatini; they are both near Gaienmae station exit #3)
Bwa! Ha! Ha! If she doesn’t walk out on you when you walk into the stand up soba, then you’ve found a real keeper!

This  meal with cold soba, inari sushi
and tempura topping for ¥540 and it tastes pretty delicious!

Two people can eat excellent soba and toppings freshly made on the premises for ¥1,200 (the water is free and all-you-can-drink!)

Extremely clean kitchen!
And, as usual, a spotless kitchen is a must for me and you can see into the kitchen from the counter at Shinetsu. The tempura and all toppings are made on premises and the soba is good quality for a extremely reasonable price.

Don’t bother going there right at lunch time between 12:00 noon and 1 pm on a weekday, because there will be a line and there’s no place to sit… Er, I mean, there’s never any place to sit anyway – so it’s not good for a first date – but fantastic for a quick lunch for the businessman or traveler on the run!

The place is about a 30 second walk from Gaienmae Station Exit 3.

Here’s the address:

To get to Shinetsu Soba, take the Ginza line to Gaienmae. Exit 3. Thirty seconds walk.

Did iTunes and Digital Music Downloads Destroy the Music Business?

I read a fascinating article over at ZeroHedge the other day. It was entitled: How iTunes Destroyed The Music Business In 1 Simple Chart (www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-05-24/how-itunes-destroyed-music-business-1-simple-chart)

Chart showing a annual decline in US music sales

Chart showing a annual decline in US music sales

The main point of the article was that, in the early days of the internet, online sites came out to share music and the industry fought back hard. From the article:

“The music industry was the first entertainment business to confront the digital transition, although it was not exactly a willing pioneer. Rather, it was thrust into this role as a matter of survival, as it grappled with the rapid rise of online piracy in the early 2000s.

The music industry was incredibly slow to respond to the digital transition. Napster, the original music piracy site, burst onto the scene in 1999, but it wasn’t until 2004 when Apple iTunes debuted that consumers grew more and more primed to free music. This was a serious error and haunted the music industry for years thereafter, costing the industry multi-billions in annual sales.

The rest of the entertainment industry has taken note and, as a result, all other entertainment sectors, including video, have been comparatively quick to embrace digital distribution. The music industry, rather than focusing on a legal digital download service, initially focused all its effort on shutting down Napster by way of a copyright infringement lawsuit. Ultimately, the industry prevailed and the courts shut down Napster in mid-2001; however, this was a pyrrhic victory. By the time Napster was shut down, the pirates had moved on to the next new thing: decentralized peer-to-peer file sharing, led by Gnutella. Unlike Napster, these piracy sites were virtually impossible to shut down because there was no central server storing the files. Shutting down Gnutella would have been tantamount to shutting down the entire internet.”

This recant of what happened is exactly true: The music industry tried to destroy digital downloads. But what the writer fails to mention is that the music recording industry (record labels) have always been anti-technology since even the early days of radio! I think it is important to understand the history of the recording industry then all of this anti-technology might start to make sense.

When radio began, the record labels tried to stop them from playing their records that’s why early radio had only live music, talk shows and radio dramas.(The record labels didn’t like their music being played on the radio at first, because when songs are played on the radio, only the music publishers get paid.) It wasn’t until the start of Rock and Roll music and DJs like Alan Freed that the labels figured out that if DJs played their records, then kids listened, and then those kids bought those records.

Duh! Maybe the labels have always been run by rocket scientists and chimpanzees?

But, like I said, record labels have traditionally been “anti-technology” and I can’t foresee that ever changing.

Let’s go back to the start of the “music industry.” You’ll need to understand the history of the music industry to see why this is the way it is and why it is probably the way it always will be.

One hundred and twenty years ago, the only “music industry” was music publishing, i.e., “Sheet music.” Performers got paid to perform live, but the big money was having a “Hit!” (no radio, TV, or even record players back then). Having a “Hit” in those days, meant writing a song, getting it down on sheet music, and having people buy that sheet music and those customers playing those songs on their piano or banjos at home… Thereby selling the composer lots of sheet music.

It went like this for years.

Then, one day, the record player was invented. Suddenly a new business was born; the business of performing a song, recording it and then having people buy your recording. Whereas, before, the musician could only make money by writing a song and selling sheet music (music publishing) or being paid to perform live, they could now make a recording and sell it. The recording industry was born.

But, can you see that the publishing industry and the recording industry are two very different things? For music publishing, this new “recording” business was nothing to the music publishing companies excepting a new revenue stream. They got paid because someone recorded a song… Back in the early days, people all recorded songs written by someone else…

It goes like this: In 1880, John writes hit songs, sells sheet music of his songs, and gets paid for each sheet music sold as well as getting paid to perform live.

In 1925, Anthony writes hit songs, sells sheet music of his songs, and gets paid for each sheet music sold and he gets paid to perform live. If Anthony performs any of John’s song’s (either live or recorded), John gets paid a royalty because John wrote that song. The publishers love that.

Even if the record company spent tons of money on a new recording of John’s song covered by Anthony, John and the publisher gets paid even if they didn’t lift a finger. When John gets paid, the publisher gets paid.

So, you see, the publishers get paid because of ownership of the song. The performer only gets paid for performance of that song; be it live or recorded. This is why John Lennon and Paul McCartney made so much money on the Beatles; they wrote almost all of the songs. Basically Ringo and George only got paid for the actual performances live or on record. If I, Mike Rogers, make a recording of “Hey Jude” only John and Paul get paid. If I go to Karaoke and sing a Lennon McCartney song, or that song is on a TV commercial, John and Paul (and the music publisher) gets paid.

This is why, today, the record labels have a contentious relationship with the music publishers: The record labels spend tons of money on studio recordings and making music videos in order to produce a “hit.” They only make money on each unit (CD, vinyl, etc.) sold. But the music publishers get paid every time a song is sold, sang at Karaoke, put on a TV commercial, played at a radio station or on TV or downloaded.

Once again, generally-speaking, the record companies only make money every time a physical unit is sold. So if a song becomes a massive hit, the record labels are happy because they sell lots of albums…. But the publishers are ecstatic because they get paid every time your sister Judy sings that god damned Lady Gaga song at Karaoke!

So, now you understand why the record labels hate music downloads and have always been anti-technology: they always have been and probably always will be; they do not get paid unless a physical product is sold (or they get an extremely small margin on downloads). The music publishers get paid, no matter what.

Sure, there’s a vinyl resurgence, but it is still a drop in the bucket…. And, these days, even new Apple computers are coming out without CD players. I know lots of people who don’t even own a CD player!

So considering how music downloads are dropping and people have changed the way they listen to music, do you think the major labels have a good financial future? I don’t…

But I do see opportunities for smart Indies music people!

So, did iTunes and music downloads destroy the music industry or did record labels shoot themselves in the foot and destroy the music industry?

TOP 3 VIDEOS for MAY 25, 2015! And the Japanese Beatles? The Neatbeats!

We’re back for the Top 3 Videos for May 25, 2015! The Top 3 Indies artists videos for the week!

Today’s first band, the Dirty Fences, are a charming lot from Brooklyn New York. Consequence of Sound says, “Brooklyn outfit Dirty Fences’ debut full-length, Too High To Kross, is an unabashed throwback to ’70s punk rock. Aping straight from The Stooges and Ramones, Dirty Fences fly along on fuzzy riffs and fast drums …

#3) DIRTY FENCES – Judy (Don’t Go)  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3a5cTeU_Ts)

Nexy up is a band that we debuted on the Top 3 Videos Weekend Special Edition on May 22, 2015. It’s Motobunny!

Rusty Knuckle writes:

“The Motobunny band members come from established rock acts, including The Love Me Nots, The Seeds, The Woolly Bandits, Zero Zero, Tongue, DeCry, The White Demons, and The Sonic Thrills. They have all performed extensively in the US, Europe, Canada and Australia, including performances with X, Iggy Pop, The Damned, The Dirtbombs, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, New York Dolls and Franz Ferdinand (as well as) official SXSW showcases, and two features in Fender official promotional videos. Motobunny band members’ past and current rock projects have been reviewed in SPIN, Little Steven’s “The Coolest Song in The World.”

#2) Motobunny – Lets Go Out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSKVUk46A0Y)

Next up is another band that debuted on my radio show many months ago (PLEASE COME LIKE MY RADIO FB! https://www.facebook.com/WhattheFunday76.1). This week’s #1 is Darlia. I think these guys are going to be huge.

Wikipedia says:

“Darlia is a British rock band from Blackpool. Formed in 2013 by former schoolmates Nathan Day and Jack Bentham, along with Dave Williams. The band have toured supporting Gerard Way and The Wombats, played Glastonbury Festival and Reading Festival, as well as being part of the NME Awards Tour 2015.”

#1) Darlia – Queen Of Hearts (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsUQAI_MQ1o)

Finally! Today’s freebie. Today’s giveaway is from one of my very favorite Japanese Rock Bands, The Neatbeats. This band is about to celebrate 20 years of rocking Japan as well as annual tours of Europe. One friend asked me to describe the Neatbeats in just a few words and I told them, “The Japanese Beatles” and that’s a massive compliment. These guys are the real deal; no AutoTune, no digital equipment; everything done analogue in their own studio filled with 40 and 50 year old antique equipment. I know, I’ve been there and have seen it with my own eyes! Check them and you’ll see too; these guys are hot!
