Business and Social Media Videos? Keep it 30 Seconds! 60 Seconds at Most!〜会社紹介動画は30秒か60秒がおすすめ

Need a video for your business or service on your webpage or business page on Facebook or other social media? Remember this one critical rule: Keep it at 30 seconds length; 60 seconds at most!

Need data to understand why? OK. Here you go:

According to research data by Visible Measures, the internet video audience measurement service: 20% of all your viewers will click away from a video in 10 seconds or fewer.”

That means, we must get the message out about what you or your business is about within the first 5 ~ 10 seconds. Think about it; how many times have you seen a video and then clicked away immediately? If people are going to click away, we might not be able to stop them (depends on their reason for clicking away), but we can at least let them know who/what you or your business is about.

The same data from Visible Measures shows that: “… by 30 seconds, you will lose about 1/3 of your viewers! 45% of all viewers will be gone by 1 minute…” Then it drops off a cliff. “You will lose 60% of your viewers by 2 minutes.”

So the most logical and cost-effective answer is to keep all your business videos at 60 seconds and under – with 30 seconds being the prime target. Oh, and by the way, Twitter’s new video platform will not support any videos over 30 seconds... That, right there, should end the discussion of how long an internet video for business should be.

It was Shakespeare who wrote; “Brevity is the Soul of Wit.” That rule fits the stage a few hundred years ago, and it fits today’s internet world too!

The breakdown for users of various devices offers insights for your business on who the users are and their habits:

* It’s the desktop viewers who seem to watch videos for 2 minutes or less.

*Mobile users seem to watch longer (maybe they are burning time while waiting for friends or riding a bus or train?) iPhone users average about 2.4 minutes on videos. Android users average about 3 minutes. iPad users are the ones who watch the longest at 5 minutes.

I do, though, think we have to take this with a grain of salt: mobile users are the ones who are watching dramas and longer videos in the car or on public transportation to kill time in a long ride (you don’t usually see people watching movies or dramas on their PC whilst riding the train or bus.) And, perhaps, iPhone and Android users are waiting for their friends and just trying to kill a few minutes.

Need more evidence that your videos shouldn’t be over 1 minute?

Here’s another thing that is important to keep in mind. The Jun Group (2011) survey shows that videos that are shorter than 15 seconds are shared 37 percent more often than those that last between 30 seconds and 1 minute. If you make your video longer than 1 minute, then the percentage of people sharing your video goes down by half! Only 18% share videos that are longer than 1 minute.

The conclusion? Great and effective video must be exciting, informing and effective from the very start. And they must be short and sweet and to the point; 30 seconds is optimum and 60 seconds is an important line to stop.

But how will you know when your video is or isn’t doing what you need? Video analytics! You can purchase information from YouTube Analytics API, but that costs money. Video analytics are available and offer a detailed look at your users: who is watching and how long they stay watching. It also will tell you exactly when they click away. So, you know exactly which scene turned people off!

But if you don’t want to spend money (and who does?) then you can just use this blog and the information that we provide for you for free! Your cash register can be another good measure!

Finally, there is another good reason that you need a video for your business: It keeps people on your page and that increases business! Once again, Visible Measures tells us:

“A real estate group reported that real estate listings that have a video garnered 403% more inquiries than properties without videos.” The math is simple; the real estate with videos generated more than 4 times more sales leads than the real estate without videos. That’s an awesome number!

Here are two examples of effective videos. These were done by Robot55 for a very cool bar in Shinjuku named Albatross. First the 30 second video: (If link doesn’t work, click here or copy and paste this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwdgP2bFL9I)

And now the Albatross 60 second video: (If link doesn’t work, click here or copy and paste this link into your browser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5B41Jio1MI)

These videos are very effective. Why? You know what kind of business it is; where it is located; you know the mood and atmosphere of the shop … All that in 5 seconds or less!

At Robot55, we specialize in high-quality, engaging and exciting 30 and 60 second videos; and we do it at an unbeatable price! Business Advertising Videos on Internet? 30 Seconds Maximum!

We’ve written extensively about why your videos for Youtube or the Internet should be short, but more information is in that seals the decision: If you are making an advertising videos for your business, restaurant, service, club, whatever, and you want the maximum number of people to see it, then make your video length a 30 seconds maximum!

In March of 2015, we wrote in a previous article (Business and Social Media Videos? Keep it 30 Seconds! 60 Seconds at Most!:

“According to research data by Visible Measures, the internet video audience measurement service: “20% of all your viewers will click away from a video in 10 seconds or fewer.”

But even this information is incomplete today. Twitter’s new video platform will not support any videos over 30 seconds! So, whether you agree with that or not, I guess that settles the debate; especially if you want people to re-tweet your video and for the video to go viral!

Case rests, your honor!

So if you want an effective video that will be seen by the widest audience of people on many Social Media Platforms and Youtube, then make it under 30 seconds.

Here’s where you can download the Twitter software for free in order to upload videos to Twitter! https://about.twitter.com/videos-on-twitter

5 Tips on Why Why Nobody Watches Your Videos on YouTube (or Anywhere Else)

So you’ve made a video for your business or service or company, but nobody watches it? That happens a lot. There’s absolutely no point in making a video if people aren’t going to watch it.

And just making a video and putting it up on YouTube or wherever and not promoting is the best way to make sure no one sees your video.

So, why doesn’t anyone watch your video?

The other day, I was directed to a video by a friend for a new health product. It seemed that my friend wanted a similar video. When I saw that the video had been online for one month, yet it had been viewed on sixty times, I asked my friend why he wanted a video like that?

Of course, not getting a lot of views (or vice a versa) take a lot of factors, but here are the most important reasons your videos do not get lots of views:

1) Nobody Watches Your Videos because they are crappy and of low quality sound or image. I can help you there. Here is some free information:

Go to: Video Tips! Make Your Own Video For Your Business For Free! Pt. 1 (www.robot55.jp/blog/video-tips-make-your-own-video-for-your-business-for-free-pt-1/) Start at part one and go from there. There are 4 or 5 parts that will give you free advice from a professional on how to make your videos MUCH better! (More links below!)

2) Nobody Watches Your Videos because they are too long. Research data shows that the optimum video time for business videos on the internet is 30 seconds or under. 60 seconds is really pushing it. From: Business and Social Media Videos? Keep it 30 Seconds! 60 Seconds at Most!〜会社紹介動画は30秒か60秒がおすすめ robot55.jp/blog/business-and-social-media-videos-keep-it-30-seconds-60-seconds-at-most/

“According to research data by Visible Measures, the internet video audience measurement service: “20% of all your viewers will click away from a video in 10 seconds or fewer.”

That means, we must get the message out about what you or your business is about within the first 5 ~ 10 seconds.

The same data from Visible Measures shows that: “… by 30 seconds, you will lose about 1/3 of your viewers! 45% of all viewers will be gone by 1 minute…” Then it drops off a cliff. “You will lose 60% of your viewers by 2 minutes.”

So the most logical and cost-effective answer is to keep all your business videos at 60 seconds and under – with 30 seconds being the prime target.” (Need more data? Business and Social Media Videos? Keep it 30 Seconds! 60 Seconds at Most!〜会社紹介動画は30秒か60秒がおすすめ robot55.jp/blog/business-and-social-media-videos-keep-it-30-seconds-60-seconds-at-most/)

#3) Nobody Watches Your Videos because no one can find them because you gave your video a title or tags that are basically worthless

Duh! If people can’t find your video, then I suppose it’s pretty sure they can’t watch them. If your video has a poor description or title, then that’s the best way to make sure no one sees it. Having good tags and descriptions will also help people to find your video. Having a good description or tags also helps your video to pop up if someone is watching a video with similar tags.

#4) Nobody Watches Your Videos because no one can find them because you don’t have a blog or a Facebook or Twitter (or other Social Media) account that directs people to your video.

Putting a video on the internet is a great idea. But just uploading it to YouTube and that being the end of your efforts, is a complete waste of time. Making your video, editing and then placing it on YouTube is just the beginning; it is merely 1/2 of your effort. The next half of your effort must be in promotion. And that isn’t just one day of promotion, you’ll need to make a concerted effort for weeks, if not months.

Things don’t happen by magic.

Think about it, if they made a Star Wars movie but didn’t tell anyone about it… How many people would go see something they don’t know about, excepting by accident? Not promoting is a sure fire way to fail.

#5) Nobody Watches Your Videos because even your own staff are not involved with promoting the video and you don’t cooperate with the right people.

This is a very long subject, so I’ll keep it short. Take Facebook for example. Even if you put your video link on Facebook, you still need to build a buzz about it. Every single one of your friends and staff need to click “Like” on the video… You too. You need at least 9 “Likes” to have your post shown to more than a few % of your friends.

But not only that, your video cannot get a wider audience without more “engagement” from people. “Engagement” means, “People not just clicking ‘Like’ but also adding comments or sharing.” Get friends to agree to comment on your posts. You do the same for them. You also share each others posts whenever necessary. This will greatly increase your “engagement” and, in turn, Facebook will show your posts to more people.

Well that’s 5 Tips on Why Why Nobody Watches Your Videos on YouTube tips for today. I’ll have more in the next coming weeks, but this is an entire 1 week course in college on this subject..

See you next time.

Make Your Own Video For Your Business For Free! Part 3 – You Need a Map: How to Write a Script!〜ビジネス動画を自分で作ってみよう!その3〜

Welcome back! This is Video Tips! Make Your Own Video For Your Business For Free! Part 3 – You Need a Map: How to Write a Script!” where we give you free simple tips on how to make better homemade videos for your business, service, restaurant, or organization (and even home and family videos!) We are going to help you each week correcting the most basic and common mistakes of homemade videos. So, in just a snap, you can make your business (or family videos) MUCH better by just keeping in mind every week’s simple 3 point lessons. These easy tips will greatly improve your video for business and all your home photos and videos of the kids and family too! So, let’s get started with part 3: You need a map: How to write a script.

In a post last week, entitled: 90% of All People Say a Video Helps To Decide a Purchase! (www.robot55.jp/blog/90-of-all-people-say-a-video-helps-to-decide-a-purchase/) we gave you important data and numbers on effective videos. One of the most important numbers was “10 seconds.” Here’s what the article says:

2) “10 seconds.”
That’s how long you have to grab the attention of viewers in a video marketing clip. According to research by Visible Measures, 20% of your viewers will click away from a video in 10 seconds or fewer. And it doesn’t get a lot better than that. You’ll lose about 1/3 of your viewers by 30 seconds, 45% of them by 1 minute and almost 60% by 2 minutes. And those numbers remain the same no matter how long the video is.

So, it is critical that the first ten seconds say what you do and gives a message that your potential target audience wants to hear. If your video isn’t sending it’s core message out in the first 5 ~ 10 seconds, then your viewer will click it off and stop watching. You don’t want that. But how do we make a good message in such a short time? How do we know what the message should be?

First off, remember the “6 W’s”

1) Who (Who are you?)

2) What (What are you selling, promoting?)

3) When (When are you open or selling? When is the event?)

4) Where (Where is your business, event?)

5) Why (Why is your business, event, service good or different?)

6) How (How can I do business with you?)

Then, with these questions in mind, think about your potential customer and what they want; if you are selling used cars, then a woman looking for a new dress probably won’t come looking at your site or video. People who might find you or your video are looking for used cars. So, knowing that fact, and that a video must be short, let’s write a script!

But how? Like this:

1) Hi! I’m Mike Rogers. President of Flaky Used Cars.

2) We sell the best in used cars for the lowest prices.

3) We’re open all the time.

4) We’re that big pile of wrecked cars you see when you drive by Farmer Wilson’s Pig Ranch.

5) We have tons of old wrecked and used cars that have been dumped here over the years.

6) We accept cash and credit cards. Come on over.

So, there is the basics for our short video.

But wait! Should I use this, in this order? Maybe not! Think again about your customers; what are they looking for? In this case, I reckon my potential customer would be someone looking for an old car chassis for a classic car or the bumper for his Ford truck that he wrecked last weekend.

So, we need to start with what the customer might be looking for. So, instead of #1 first. We should start with #2:

“We sell the best in used cars for the lowest prices.”

But, let’s go one step further and make it more appealing for our potential customers. Asking questions is always good. Let’s make that sentence a question for the viewer!

#2 “Are you looking for the best in used cars for the lowest prices?”

Ah! Now that is more like it! As a viewer, I know exactly what this is about in a few seconds. Perfect!

So, let’s continue by taking the sentences above and rearrange in this order (2-1-5-4-6-3):

2) Are you looking for the best in used cars for the lowest prices?

1) Hi! I’m Mike Rogers. President of Flaky Used Cars.

5) We have tons of old wrecked and used cars that have been dumped here over the years.

4) We’re that big pile of wrecked cars you see when you drive by Farmer Wilson’s Pig Ranch.

6) We accept cash and credit cards. Come on over.

3) We’re open all the time.

Get it! This is darned near perfect. It gets my message out about what we do in less than 4 seconds. If you can get this crucial duty done correctly on your homemade video for your business, then you are ten steps ahead of the game even if your competition spend ¥500,000 on their video: Because, no matter the cost, if you don’t grab your viewers within ten seconds, you’ve lost them.

So, please use this basic “map” above anytime you are thinking about making your own video. If you need help, please don’t hesitate to write to me directly. I’ll help you. No problem!

There’s a few old sayings I’d like to repeat:

“Failing to plan is planning to fail.”

and

“80% of success comes in the planning.”

Trust me this little bit of planning will save you much time and effort and is extremely important if you want to get the message out and grab people within the first 10 seconds.

Of course, if after making your video, you decide that you do want a little more of a professional video production in Japanese or English (or any other language) then please think about us at Robot55.
