Watch These 3 Short Movies Without Crying? Can’t Be Done!〜【注意】涙腺崩壊映像【感動】

英語分からな?問題ない!ビデオをクリック!

Thanks to everyone for the kind messages about yesterday’s post about hiring the handicapped to become a part of our team. (If link doesn’t work, copy and paste this into your browser: http://robot55.jp/blog/looking-to-hire-the-handicapped-for-video-editing-at-home/).  We will keep on trying and keep on going forward. With your support, I know we can do this.

Thanks so much.

In the spirit of opening our hearts and trying to make this a better place to live, as well as a “thank you!” present for all our well-wishers, today I’d like to show you three very touching videos from Thailand. Is this an attempt at pulling at dear reader’s soft heart strings? Why, yes it is. It is also because I am a big softy and these things make me cry too. (Heck, I cried in the Disney cartoon Dumbo!) Today’s short videos are very well done and make my water works flow also! I think you’ll like them a lot! I do.

Why does Thailand have so many heart ripping videos today? Maybe it’s because Thailand was such a desperately poor country (still is in many ways) for so many centuries. Things have gotten better, but westerners cannot imagine the poverty in nations like Thailand (or India) that still exist today… Maybe these heart-wrenching videos come about due to Thailand’s Buddhist history. I am not sure.

The first video is about a blind boy who saves a baby bird. This movie speaks for itself. Watch this and see if this doesn’t jerk your heartsrings….

I love how they got a real actor with a sight disorder to play the part. Genius. Well done!

The next video is a video that is perfect for Japan and addresses the social problem of bullying. This one, too, needs little explanation…. The note the little boy receives at the start of the video says, “Loser!”

The note the little boy receives at the end of the video says, “Teach me!” Watch it!

Brilliant!

Finally, this is the best of the bunch. Actually, I find this video production to be quite excellent and I am happy to see how this was adapted… No! Is this an ancient story? Or is this a modern story? I am leaning to believing that this is an ancient Buddhist story.

Here is an English adaptation that I found:

“One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, “How much do I owe you?”

“You don’t owe me anything,” she replied. “Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.”

He said, “Then I thank you from my heart.”

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Year’s later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation.

When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor’s gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once.

He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case. After a long struggle, the battle was won.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She began to read the following words: “Paid in full with one glass of milk. Signed, Dr. Howard Kelly.”

So I am sure, now, this is an ancient story. Now that you know the story, you don’t need to know the language. The video adaptation is superb:

It’s a wonderful day.  Thank you for sharing your time with us today.

Please give your loved ones a hug. Cherish all that you have. Kindness to others will be repaid to you in good karma…

As the final video says, “Giving is the best communication.”

Looking to Hire the Handicapped for Video Editing at Home

Because of the internet, many people no longer have to leave home or take public transportation to and from work; they can perform their job duties from home.  This time should be a watershed time for the disabled and handicapped to work and contribute to society. As the father of a girl who is permanently confined to a wheelchair, it has been a sort of mission of mine over all these years to do so. As a small company, we want to help them to do so.

We are in the process of hiring physically impaired folks for our company. At first, just a few folks, they earn decent money editing video. At this very moment, we are looking for someone disabled but has experience editing video using Final Cut. They need to have experience with Final Cut software and be able to observe video footage and listen to music and make edits. Native Japanese ability a must. Experience in video and art and design a plus.

We prefer folks who live in Tokyo or Yokohama, Chiba area. For now, we are merely looking for one experienced person; yes, the hurdle is high. But soon we will be hiring people who have little or no experience and we aim to train them and give them a profitable skill. I will announce that job opening soon. (A Japanese language version of this article will be posted tomorrow).

What is the job precisely? Simply video editing. Look at the photo below. It is a photo of the top of this page. On the left, in the red circles, are two videos. One is 30 seconds, the other is 60 seconds. It is very high quality professional job at a super low price. You can scroll up to the top of this page to click and watch these videos.
Robot55 does professional world-class video productions at a fraction the cost of the competition and we aim to make society a better place with your help.

Robot55 does professional world-class video productions at a fraction the cost of the competition and we aim to make society a better place with your help.

Here is a new video we made yesterday:  (If link doesn’t play, copy and paste this into your browser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbhtRDMcBTY)

We are now looking to hire a physically impaired person who can perform a part time job doing video editing on Final Cut at home. As with all video editing jobs, this job has no set work hour schedule. The editor can do the work at their convenience.  It takes about 3 – 5 hours to edit one video. Then, for the starting pay, they will be paid ¥6,000 ~ ¥9,000 per video. They can get pay raises once they become proficient with our system. The pay is much better than working at a fast food restaurant or convenience store. You never have to use time riding a train back and forth; you never have to leave home. Finish the job and upload it back to us. Simple.

We need to hire someone who has experience with Final Cut video editing soon (part time). I think the work will only be 1 video a week at the start… And then, if business goes well, we can increase. We are very flexible for our part time worker’s schedule too.

The good candidate will need an newer model Apple PC and Wi-Fi at home.

If you are interested or know someone who might be, have them contact us. Let’s work together having fun making videos and making the world a better place to live.

NOTE: The Politically Correct crowd really confuse me sometimes. So much so, that in an article like this, I am afraid to use certain terminology. Is it OK to say, “Disabled,” or “Handicapped?” I’m not sure. I do not mean to offend anyone and just want to get to the point as quickly as possible. Politically correctness has gotten out of control. I don’t know what to call my own daughter! Some call her disabled, some call her handicapped, some call her wheelchair bound…. I call her “perfect!”

MORE NOTES:
Truth be told, everyone has a disability of some sort…

This Week’s Top 3 New Artist Videos (03/17/15) 〜ミュージックビデオも制作

Time once again for this week’s Top 3 New Artist Videos for the week of March 17, 2015. This is where we showcase what we think are some the best three artists of the week and share their videos with you. This week I have some catching up to do, so some of these videos are already a year old. But no matter, they are still a part of the underground to this date. I play these artists and my songs on my regular weekly FM radio show, “What the Funday” on InterFM that is broadcast in Tokyo and Nagoya (and all over Japan on the Radiko.jp network. You can listen to that (if you are in Japan) here: http://radiko.jp/).

So without further ado, let’s get to today’s Top 3.

#3) Prima Donna – Sociopath.

This band is from Los Angeles and they have been turning heads and making people sit up and take notice for quite a while now. The band formed in 2003, but didn’t release and album until 2008. In 2009, they opened for Green Day throughout its 21st Century Breakdown World Tour. This band is happening! PRIMA DONNA “Sociopath” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-vXGwhXTwg)

#2) Wolf Alice – Moaning Lisa Smile.

I wanted to play Wolf Alice’s latest single for you, but I think it’s best for you to have some background on where this band’s head is at, so I will show you one of my favorite videos of last year. Wolf Alice are a four-piece alternative band from North London. Wolf Alice has been getting rave reviews. “Clash” magazine says of them, “…the lovechild of folk and grunge”. The “Fluffy” single by Wolf Alice had the band being compared to bands like Elastica and Hole. Well-known music critic, Kitty Empire, wrote that the sound of Wolf Alice was “an engaging strain of off-kilter indie rock”.

The band says they are a “Rock Pop” group. You decide. I think they are hot!

#1) Courtney Barnett – Pedestrian at Best.

At number 1 is Courtney Barnett! Courtney Barnett is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Melbourne, Australia. She is best known for witty lyrics and very dry, deadpan humor. In October of 2013, she started getting noticed in the US and UK press when she released her debut album and tore the house down with rave reviews at her  CMJ Music Marathon performances. From these shows, Courtney Barnett was mentioned by both the Rolling Stone magazine and The New York Times as a performer to watch out for.

Well, that’s it for this week. Week after next, Robot55 is going to go make a video for a hot new girl’s band in Japan named, “Su Ko D Koi.” We played their song on the radio show and the reaction from the audience was amazing! We haven’t had that many calls and emails about a new artist in a long time. I hope to have that video up for you in the first week of April! Until then, see you next week with more cool alternative/underground/new artists!

Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd Short Comedy Genius!〜素晴らしい短編コメディ動画をご紹介

It’s a beautiful day! Time for Saturday Comedy Theater! Today, I’d like to feature two of my most favorite of all time silent movie comedy bits.

First off is one I have seen a hundred times but it still makes me laugh out loud with the genius of the idea. The boxing scene from Charlie Chaplin’s “City Lights” which was released in 1931. It was immediately successful upon release on January 30, 1931, with positive reviews and box office receipts of $5 million. Today, critics consider it not only one of the highest accomplishments of Chaplin’s career, but one of the greatest films ever made. It inspires me because, whenever I’m doing a low budget video production and need a good idea (and who doesn’t?) I think of this movie. Chaplin, due to a well thought-out script and idea, is able to pull off one of the highlights of cinematic history for a relatively low cost. True genius! And hilarious! Take 6 minutes to watch this and have a great laugh!

(If video doesn’t play, click here: Charlie Chaplin boxing – City Lights https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYfpYYMWF5s)

Next up is one that I bet many of you have seen photos of but probably have never seen the actual film. Ever see the old silent film photo of a  man hanging from a clock high above the streets? That’s it! Harold Lloyd’s 1923 comedy classic, “Safety Last!”  This is truly brilliant too!

Harold Lloyd’s 1923 comedy classic, “Safety Last!” Watch the video first, details below:

(If video doesn’t play, click here: Harold Lloyd’s “Safety Last”- 1923 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEcTjhUN_7U)

Safety Last! was released in 1923 as a romantic comedy silent film starring Harold Lloyd. It is about a man who gets out of jail but wants to marry his sweetheart so he goes to the city to find success. In this scene, he is running from the police and the only way to escape is by climbing a tall building. I have to admit, after all these years in film and video, I still don’t know how they did this in the early 1920s… Did they have a Chroma-key (blue screen) back then? No! Right? So how the heck did they make it look like he is 30 floors above the crowded street?

This film, as I said, includes one of the most famous and iconic images from the entire silent film era: Lloyd clutching the hands of a large clock as he dangles from the outside of a skyscraper above moving traffic. Safety Last was highly successful and it sealed the status of Harold Lloyd as a major star in early motion pictures. This film is still extremely still popular at film revivals, and it is viewed today as one of the greatest of the film comedies. Also, get this, that isn’t a stunt-man climbing, it is Harold Lloyd! And he did that in spite of losing a finger in an accident a few years beforehand!

We hope you enjoyed today’s film productions. Today, at Robot55, we are going to make a video production and shoot photo stills of some pin-up and bikini girls for a TV show we are making … Yeah, life is tough… I’ll try to post some photos for you soon!
