Now, onto the countdown… At #3 is a band that gets lots of airplay on my FM radio show, “What the Funday” on InterFM every Sunday morning from 8 am ~ 11am. Their name is Kids On A Crime Spree and they are a rock trio from Oakland, California.
At #1 this week is Drenge. Drenge are an English two-piece alternative rock band, based in Castleton, Derbyshire, based in Sheffield. The band is made up of Eoin Loveless, on guitar and vocals, and his younger brother Rory, on drums. They take their name from the Danish word for “boys”, although it is pronounced differently. Oh, and they are appearing at Fuji Rock this year!
And last but not least are one of Tokyo’s favorite bands, the Watanabe’s. I was thinking about putting a Belle & Sebastian song in here, but then I changed my mind. Everyone already knows Belle & Sebastian and if you like them, you’ll definitely like the Watanabe’s. This video also has some great shots around Tokyo. Cool!

Welcome back and time once again for this week’s Top 3 video countdown. The best and most bizarre new Top 3 Indies artist’s videos and bizarre and cool stuff I could find (and trust me, I spend a lot of time looking for this stuff!)
First up today is a band named Milk Spot. The only thing I can tell you about these folks is they are from Fort Lauderdale, Florida; there are 4 of them and they have a Facebook page… Oh, and they are friends with Killmama who have graced our Top 3 chart before!
Hey, I just realized something… Our #2 band comes from Florida too. Is there something going on in Florida right now? Wow! Anyway, their description says, “3 piece Riot Girl / Alternative band from Miami.” They have a Facebook page too.
This week’s #1 is a band that I have been playing on my radio show “What the Funday” on InterFM (Gee, we have a Facebook page too!) The band’s name is “Beautiful Bodies” and I have been airing them for well over a year… Maybe two? I can’t remember. They are a trio from Kansas City, Missouri. Anyway, they just signed to Epitaph Records, so all I have to say is, Bravo!” (Of course, they have a FB page too!)

We’re back for the weekend version of the Top 3 Indies Videos for May 11, 2015. I want to say thanks to all the artists who have been submitting videos to me for review. Much appreciation. And for you readers, thanks too! I hope you dig finding new artists and bands as much as I do!
First up today at #3 are a band from Auckland, New Zealand who took off to Jolly Old London England the first chance they got. They are an Alternative rock trio, Adam, Dave and Joel. Their name is the Popstrangers and they are at #3.
At #2 are those two sisters that seem to be catching fire. Their names are Gwendolyn and Lucy and they are better known as the punk band, Dog Party. This is their newest single!
Finally, at this week’s #1 is a punk band from Los Angeles that has been a favorite of mine for quite a while. They beeen on my countdowns before, but this is their first time on the Top 3 Videos. Wikipedia writes:
“FIDLAR is a skate punk/garage punk band from Los Angeles California… The band’s name is an acronym for ‘Fuck It Dog, Life’s a Risk’, a skate mantra gleaned from singer Zac Carper’s former roommates. Originally, FIDLAR went under the name ‘Fuck The Clock’, as referenced in their song ‘Cheap Beer’. Three years after recording their first songs they stepped on stage together with The Black Lips and went on tour with The Hives. In 2012, FIDLAR were named one of Stereogum’s ’40 Best New Bands of 2012′.”
I think you’ll dig this video. It’s got parodies of all sorts of famous videos and pop/rock stars. The Devo “Jocko Homo” parody at about 1:05 into the video floored me! I certainly DID NOT expect that!
And finally, as I always like to do, I’d like to introduce you to some of Japan’s unsung heroes. Today is a Rockabilly instrumental trio from Tokyo named Bobby’s Bar. This band rocks and performs at some of Tokyo’s coolest underground dives. I’ve seen them live several times and am always impressed by them.

Shit! It’s a Monday! I hate Mondays! The only good thing about Mondays is the Top 3 Video Countdown. Let’s get rockin’!
Oh my god! The first band up today is the New Piccadillys. This band is hot! The Piccadillys are “Shiny suits, twanging guitars, pounding drums & tight harmonies together with 60s sounds” I highly recommend checking out their Facebook page where you can find gems like this: “He is also remembered by many as Johnny MacRotten of the dangerously authentic ‘Scottish Sex Pistols’ and as front man for the more family friendly skiffle trio ‘Wray Gunn & The Rockets’.” You can’t make this shit up. Here they are with a cover of a classic Ramones tune.
Next up are the China Rats. China Rats are a four-piece indie rock band from Leeds, England, that the U.K. press has been hailing as the next Arctic Monkeys.
Next up, at #1 is a band that is coming to the big Japanese Rock Festival; Summer Fuji, or is it Fuji Sonic? I forget. Why? Because all summer festivals have crap sound and I don’t go to them. Nevertheless, I was the first one to play our #1 act in Japan (aren’t I always the first?) so this band is cool, even though the summer festivals all suck (I hate standing in line to take a pee too!)
