Top 3 Videos 8/25/17! The Neatbeats, Darts, Estrons, Honeychain, Creepshow, Homeless Gospel Choir!

It’s time once again for the Top 3 Indies Artist Video Countdown of the Top 3 best Indies and Alternative Music artists for the week of August 25, 2017! There’s so much good music today that we have a special! Five songs for the price of three!

First up are the Darts and this song that just came out a few days ago! They are a garage-psych rock 4 piece girls rock band from Phoenix AZ and Los Angeles CA. The Darts say they are: “Garage-psych-rock grrls who will make your head slam and your feet shake. And then there’s the music.”

Be on the lookout for their new album that will be out next month, Sept. 2017! Here’s their Facebook page. Go “Like” it! https://www.facebook.com/thedartsUS/

#5 The Darts (US) – “The Cat’s Meow” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEli8nf7O6w

At #4 is Derek Zanetti from Pittsburgh, PA and he calls his act, the Homeless Gospel Choir. His bio says, “The Homeless Gospel Choir (Derek), is a protest singer, author and artist based out of Pittsburgh, PA. Through his on-stage humor and vulnerability, Derek creates an atmosphere of inclusion and community. He engages with the audience in a way that allows them to know that they’re not alone. His new record, Normal, was described by Frank Turner as “a generationally defining album for the underground punk scene.” He also said, “In half an hour, Derek reminded me of what punk’s supposed to be.”

The Homeless Gospel Choir has a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheHomelessGospelChoir/

#4) The Homeless Gospel Choir – Normal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mWJWFnn5Z0

At #3 are an Alternative music 4 piece outfit from Cardiff (I guess that’s in the UK). Their name is the Estrons. Contact Music says: Estrons are a Welsh band of misfits full of attitude and stories to share. Their unique blend of indie rock and riot grrrl vocals works perfectly to create a sound akin to the likes of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Blood Red Shoes.”

The Estrons have a Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/estrons

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Estrons/

#3) Estrons – Strobe Lights https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=hw7lcLqCuFs

Next up is a band that claims, “We’ve been compared to some cool bands. This makes us happy.” Their name is honeychain and their newest is produced by Kim Shattuck of the Muffs fame. Their bio says: honeychain is the sound of chaotic romance, in-your-face garage pop swagger, and hypnotic heartbreak. With a sound soaked in bittersweet alternative rock and sun drenched punky power pop, this Los Angeles based formidable threesome have received a number of stellar reviews from music fans and music critics alike along with radio airplay on numerous college and independent stations and by Rodney Bingenheimer.”

Here’s honeychain’s Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/honeychainmusic/

#2) honeychain – There Goes That Girl  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiBI3UcxTTY

At #1 is a punk/psychobilly band from Montreal, Canada! Their name is Creepshow! Alternative Press named Creepshow, “One of the top bands you need to know about.” Their Bio says: “Since their inception, the band has brought their genre-defying blend of country-tinged, psycho punk rock n’ roll to over 25 countries worldwide with plans to conquer many more as soon as possible. … Whatever you do though, don’t write THE CREEPSHOW off as just another psychobilly band. While their lyrics draw inspiration from b-movies and early horror films, they’re also full of personal insight and personal stories dealing with everything from addiction to mental health to tales of love gone horribly wrong.”

Here’s Creepshow’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheCreepshowOfficial/

#1) The Creepshow – Sticks & Stones  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ-KGGS_SY0

Top 3 Indies Artist Videos for Mar. 11, 2017! Theee Bat (Japan), Middle Kids, Honeychain!

It’s time once again for the Top 3 Indies Artist Video Countdown. The Top 3 best Indies and Alternative Music artists for the week of Mar. 11, 2017!

Starting us off today are a brand new trio from Los Angeles named Honeychain. Honeychain describes themselves as a, “Punky power pop, alternative rock band.” They have been getting radio airplay on numerous college and independent stations and by Rodney Bingenheimer on his Rodney on the ROQ show on KROQ…. OH, and thanks to Kona Cindy, they’ve been getting airplay on my Sunday FM show here in Japan, “WTF?” on InterFM 897. (https://www.facebook.com/WhattheFunday76.1/)

Honeychain also has a new album coming out this year, produced by Kim Shattuck (The Muffs & The Pandoras). Here is their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/honeychainmusic/?hc_ref=SEARCH

#3) honeychain – Messy Love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJzE51Kz0vY&t=66s

Did you like that Honeychain song? Here’s a free download: MIDDLE KIDS – Edge Of Town

At #2 today is another trio. This time from Australia! They are called the Middle Kids! When I first heard this, it reminded me of an 80s group….The Pretenders! That’s it! The Middle Kids have been getting rave reviews and have become one of Australia’s most exciting new bands with only two singles to its name. The rock trio has appeared on World Cafe and is set to perform at South By Southwest. Here is their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/middlekidsmusic/

#2) Middle Kids – Your Love   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3d5IIgGucaw

At this week’s #1 is a band from Japan. They are a trio named Theee Bat! This is not Theee Bat’s first time on the countdown, but it is the first time ever a Japanese rock band has hit #1 on our charts. Alas, due to unfortunate circumstances, this will probably be the last time Theee Bat will be on our charts. I am saddened as I tried several times to also have them as guests on my radio show, but I always failed. Here’s their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheeeBat/

At #1, Japan’s own Theee Bat, featuring the fabulous Mika Bat doing their version of the Elvis Presley classic, “Jailhouse Rock.” Mika, guys, I can’t give you anything but I hope this #1 makes you smile. And, by popular request, I will also play this track tomorrow on WTF?

#1) Kangoku Rock / THEEE BAT  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XibRiRcc2d4

Thanks Theee Bat.     Thanks Mika Bat…. May you rest in peace.

Top 3 Indies Artist Videos for Feb 26, 2017! Neatbeats (Japan), Lemon Twigs, Faz Waltz, Honeychain!

It’s time once again for the Top 3 Indies Artist Video Countdown. The Top 3 best Indies and Alternative Music artists for the week of Feb. 26, 2017!

First up for you is a Glam Rock / Rock n Roll band from Cantu, Italy. It’s three guys who call themselves Faz Waltz. I did a Google translate search (polite laughter here) and couldn’t find out what “Faz Waltz” means. I guess it doesn’t matter. I think these guys are cool. They come with a good reputation too. From their webpage: “After four albums and hundreds of shows all around Europe, Faz Waltz have already set the bar so high that is impossible not to put them among the best european bands of the last decade.” They have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FAZ-WALTZ-36996846377/?pnref=story

#3) Faz Waltz – Rock’N’Roll Boy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6SPY52Q2BQ

At #2 (and #1) this week are bands introduced to us by Kona Cindy, the curator’s curator for fine sonic explosions. Cindy was just raving about these two brothers. And this video is HILARIOUS!!!!! Wikipedia says, “The Lemon Twigs are an American pop/rock band from Long Island, New York, United States, fronted by brothers Brian D’Addario and Michael D’Addario. Both brothers are vocalists, songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, and are joined for most live performances by Megan Zeankowski on bass and Danny Ayala on keyboards and backing vocals.” I also hear that these two are, like, only 17-years-old. Really? Here’s their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/TheLemonTwigs/

#2) The Lemon Twigs:  I Wanna Prove to You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJGzm2fF2Uo

At #1 is a trio named Honeychain. Honeychain have been around since 2012 and they descirbe themselves as a “Punky power pop, alternative rock band from Los Angeles.” They have a new album coming out this year that is produced by Kim Shattuck of “The Muffs” & “The Pandoras” fame. Check out their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/honeychainmusic/

#1) Honeychain – Messy Love: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJzE51Kz0vY

TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT ARTIST! Is a band originally from Osaka who now reside in Tokyo. This, folks, is IMHO Japan’s most entertaining rock group. They call themselves, “The Neatbeats.” The Neatbeats have been around for twenty years and put on the most entertaining live show I have ever seen in my life – and I’ve even seen The Smothers Brothers and Tony Bennett live! They just released their new record and will be guests on my radio show, WTF? tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017 from 9:30 am ~ 10 am doing an acoustic live set. They also star in my full length motion picture, “Ghostroads – A Japanese Rock n Roll Ghost Story” that will be released in theaters all over Japan this fall. Check out the trailer herehttps://vimeo.com/197078048
