Today, Danny, Dory and Bogie of the world famous and awesome 50 Kaitenz came to the Robot55 studios and did some voice recording and, for fun, we took some photos.

Last night the 50 Kaitenz just finished up their “Back to the Kidz” tour with a sold out finale at Shinjuku Loft! Well done boys.
The 50 Kaitenz, I think, are one of Japan’s best rock bands. I have loved this band for years! These guys are fucking HOT!!!! Here’s a video of them. Japan’s best band?

Time once again for this week’s Top 3 New Artist Videos for the week of June 19, 2015. Next up is a new band named Secret Club. Audio Fuzz says, “….they are releasing their new CD, and their video was directed by Ryan Baxley (Fidlar, Twin Peaks). This band could kick the Strokes’ ass, or send the Hives back to Sweden. They remind me of the Dandy Warhols or (for those of you old like me), the Sonics or the Standells. Remember, garage rock is what we need to keep us wild, and Secret Club is one of those bands. Thanks be to the ghost of the Ramones.”
At #1 this week is the comeback of Veruca Salt. Veruca Salt were a big band in the nineties. I think, after hearing this track, you will be glad they are back.

One day late and far more than several hundred dollars short, it’s time for this week’s Top 3 Videos. The Top 3 Indies Artist’s videos for the week of June 16, 2015.
And once again, it’s Ladies Nite! The ladies will do the rockin’. Everyone gets in free!
First up are the two sisters who we introduced to you several weeks ago. As the story goes, when the older sister was 9, she pushed a drum kit into her then 6-year-old sister’s bedroom and proclaimed, “We’re starting a punk band.” Ten years later, today, they are known as Dog Party. They’ve been getting heavy airplay on my radio show: What the Funday on InterFM. (Please come “Like” or FB page! Please!)
And at this week’s #1 is a band that needs no introduction to our countdown. They just finished a tour of the UK and the USA and we’re featured on our Ninja Slayer from Animation set program, “the TV Show” (ザ・TVショウ） that I create, write and produce along with my crazy friends Ken Nishikawa and Motoyoshi Tai for Niconico Douga.
Taffy are happening! Need more proof? This is from their new CD “Darkle” and this track is remixed by Brian Jonestown Massacre! Way cool!
Today’s freebie is, yes, yet again another band that’s been getting regular spins on What the Funday. It’s History of Apple Pie! The History of Apple Pie are an English rock band from London. They released their debut album Out of View on 28 January 2013, which went in at number 8 in the UK Indie Breakers Chart, and number 2 in the UK Record Store Chart.

We’re back for the weekend version of the Top 3 Indies Videos for May 11, 2015. I want to say thanks to all the artists who have been submitting videos to me for review. Much appreciation. And for you readers, thanks too! I hope you dig finding new artists and bands as much as I do!
First up today at #3 are a band from Auckland, New Zealand who took off to Jolly Old London England the first chance they got. They are an Alternative rock trio, Adam, Dave and Joel. Their name is the Popstrangers and they are at #3.
At #2 are those two sisters that seem to be catching fire. Their names are Gwendolyn and Lucy and they are better known as the punk band, Dog Party. This is their newest single!
Finally, at this week’s #1 is a punk band from Los Angeles that has been a favorite of mine for quite a while. They beeen on my countdowns before, but this is their first time on the Top 3 Videos. Wikipedia writes:
“FIDLAR is a skate punk/garage punk band from Los Angeles California… The band’s name is an acronym for ‘Fuck It Dog, Life’s a Risk’, a skate mantra gleaned from singer Zac Carper’s former roommates. Originally, FIDLAR went under the name ‘Fuck The Clock’, as referenced in their song ‘Cheap Beer’. Three years after recording their first songs they stepped on stage together with The Black Lips and went on tour with The Hives. In 2012, FIDLAR were named one of Stereogum’s ’40 Best New Bands of 2012′.”
I think you’ll dig this video. It’s got parodies of all sorts of famous videos and pop/rock stars. The Devo “Jocko Homo” parody at about 1:05 into the video floored me! I certainly DID NOT expect that!
And finally, as I always like to do, I’d like to introduce you to some of Japan’s unsung heroes. Today is a Rockabilly instrumental trio from Tokyo named Bobby’s Bar. This band rocks and performs at some of Tokyo’s coolest underground dives. I’ve seen them live several times and am always impressed by them.

Shit! It’s a Monday! I hate Mondays! The only good thing about Mondays is the Top 3 Video Countdown. Let’s get rockin’!
Oh my god! The first band up today is the New Piccadillys. This band is hot! The Piccadillys are “Shiny suits, twanging guitars, pounding drums & tight harmonies together with 60s sounds” I highly recommend checking out their Facebook page where you can find gems like this: “He is also remembered by many as Johnny MacRotten of the dangerously authentic ‘Scottish Sex Pistols’ and as front man for the more family friendly skiffle trio ‘Wray Gunn & The Rockets’.” You can’t make this shit up. Here they are with a cover of a classic Ramones tune.
Next up are the China Rats. China Rats are a four-piece indie rock band from Leeds, England, that the U.K. press has been hailing as the next Arctic Monkeys.
Next up, at #1 is a band that is coming to the big Japanese Rock Festival; Summer Fuji, or is it Fuji Sonic? I forget. Why? Because all summer festivals have crap sound and I don’t go to them. Nevertheless, I was the first one to play our #1 act in Japan (aren’t I always the first?) so this band is cool, even though the summer festivals all suck (I hate standing in line to take a pee too!)
At #1 is Drenge. Drenge are an English two-piece alternative rock band, based in Castleton, Derbyshire, England. The band is made up of Eoin Loveless, on guitar and vocals, and his younger brother Rory, on drums.
Today’s Freebie! オマケ！It’s Girlpool! Wikipedia says, “Girlpool is a punk rock band from Los Angeles, California. Its members are Cleo Tucker (guitar, vocals) and Harmony Tividad (bass, vocals), who are 18 and 19 years old, respectively. The band does not have a drummer.”
