Time for the Top 3 Videos Countdown for Sept. 24, 2016! And today we are featuring bands who are appearing at the  Rock N Roll Summit 2016 at Shibuya!

It’s time once again for the Top 3 Videos! The best of the Top 3 Indies Band videos for Sept. 17, 2016! And, drum roll, please! It’s Ladies Night once again! 4 hot new female fronted acts! First up is a duo from Lancashire in England, Holly and David, and they are called “The Lovely Eggs.” The describe their musical genre as, “You can’t make a square peg fit a round hole.” They also claim that their “NEW F**CKED UP, FUZZED OUT FREAK OUT 7” SINGLE “DRUG BRAGGIN'” (is on sale) NOW!!” Here’s their FB page. At #1 is a sister punk rock duo that I have been pushing BIG TIME for a couple of years now… Now I get to really brag! Guess what? They are opening for Green Day! God! I love it when I can say, “See? I told you so! I told you these girls were going to be big!” They are two sisters from central California. This is about their millionth time on our countdown (OK, well, maybe not quite a million times). Their name is Dog Party. I love this band. I am so proud of these two!!!!

SPOTLIGHT ARTIST! Today’s Spotlight Artist is another Japanese girl’s rock band from Tokyo named Kinoko Hotel (Mushroom Hotel). Kinoko Hotel is a Japanese woman four piece band. They describe themselves as “Garage punk, inspired by rock ‘n’ roll sounds of the late 1960s, but characterized by mushroom-hair.” I love this band! It’s time once again for the Top 3 Videos! The best of the Top 3 Indies Band videos for August 13, 2016!

And at #3 this week is the newest sensation from Brighton England. A female fronted 4-piece named Blood Honey and they are coming to Japan! They are performing at the Astro Hall in Harajuku on August 19th and appearing at Summersonic that weekend with The Mirror Trap!!!! See them before they become big!

At #2 is a mysterious band that I stumbled upon while collecting records for weirdos at the last record collectors fair. Didn’t know if I should put it in the Top 3 or in the “Cool & Strange Music” countdown so I thought, “Why not both?” They call themselves, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Monkey & the Robots.” They describe themselves as a “60s garage, rock, rockabilly, garage punk, surf band from Detroit.” Here is their FB page. SPOTLIGHT ARTIST! Today’s Spotlight Artist is a Japanese Punk/Garage outfit that cracks me up. They are 6 crazy mo-fos that put on a wild rock n roll show. They kind of remind me of an Iggy and the Stooges on Spam. They’ve been around since 2011 and they are from Tokyo, Japan. Their name is Spam69.

OK. I have to explain. English speaking people will think this name is “Spam sixty-nine,” (which is also a great name), but the name of the band is, “Spam Rock.” You see, the numbers “69” are read in Japanese as, “Ro Ku.” Get it? “Roku,” “Rock.” I love these guys balls out attack on rock music as well as their sense of humor. It’s time once again for the Top 3 Videos! The best of the Top 3 Indies Band videos for August 6, 2016!  And at #3 this week is the newest sensation from Scotland, The Mirror Trap and they are coming to Japan! They are performing at the the Astro Hall in Harajuku on August 19th and appearing at Summersonic that weekend!!!! See them before they become big!

SPOTLIGHT ARTIST! Today’s Spotlight Artist is a Japanese Punk/Garage outfit that probably needs no introduction. They’ve been around since 1987 and they are from Nagasaki, Japan. Their name is Guitarwolf and they are known for songs with piercing vocals and an extremely loud style of noise-influenced punk which emphasizes heavy distortion and feedback. They coined the phrase “jet rock ‘n’ roll”, which they also use to describe their musical style. Here is their latest.

First up today is a band that was introduced to us by DJ Alex Kish over at Wassup Rocker Radio! The band’s name is “Deap Vally.” Deap Vally are Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards and these two girls rock! Their FB pages says they are a rock n roll band from Los Angeles, California. Their manager is named Kazumi and she does a good job. She has pestered me (and I mean that in a good way) to play this band a few times (well, managers and promoters are supposed to be persistent)…. First up, The Coathangers! The Coathangers are a Punk Rock band from Atlanta. On April 15, 2016 the band released their fifth studio full-length entitled Nosebleed Weekend.

It’s time once again for the Top 3 Videos! The best of the Top 3 Indies Band videos for June 25, 2016!

First up today is a band I just stumbled upon this morning (it was early, I can’t remember how I found them!). This band is 3 guys and a hot girl from St. Petersburg, Russia! They describe themselves as, “Experimental, bedroom dream pop, female vocalist, garage rock, goth, lo-fi, Russian shoegaze.” Well, I guess that just about covers it! I like this a lot. At #1 this week is something BRAND NEW by Richie Ramone. Folks, seriously, I gave this tune its world-debut on my radio show when Richie was in Japan and I have to say this is a great tune. In fact, I think this is one of the greatest Ramones tunes (n)ever made. Thank God for Richie for cranking out this future classic. Best punk song of the year?
