It’s time once again for the Top 3 Indies Artist Video Countdown for May 26, 2018! And it’s Ladies Night! Starting off the countdown are a girls band that were introduced to us by DJ Kish of the world famous Wassup Rocker Radioand their name is VOIID. VOIID’s bio says: “A four piece of hellish girl-shriek guaranteed to make your face melt and your boyfriend cry.”

Next up at #2 is honeychain. Honeychain are from Los Angeles. Their bio says: “honeychain is the sound of chaotic romance, in-your-face garage pop swagger, and hypnotic heartbreak. At #1 is a trio from London named Slowcoaches. Stereoboard magazine says: “Slowcoaches, performs a thousand melodic tricks at a hundred miles an hour, which is just as hard as it sounds. Landing somewhere between the gobby brilliance of peak Elastica and the driving, hi-hat punishment garage rock of the Marked Men, it delivers on the early promise of the band’s first singles by engineering as many collisions between sugary hooks and squalling distortion as possible in half an hour.”

SPOTLIGHT ARTIST!  Today’s spotlight goes to a local Japanese band from Tokyo called Jett Sett! The cite their musical influences as: Iggy Pop, Destroy All Monsters, Blondie, etc. and the describe their other influences as: “Japanese Bad Boy & Bad Girl Culture.” Cool!  This band is fantastic!

I’m going to debut this song on my radio show, The Mike Rogers Show tomorrow morning… (Mike Rogers Show – every Sunday from 5 am ~ 7 am. You can listen live on InterFM 897 in Tokyo, Radio Neo 79.5 in Nagoya or nationally broadcast (and On-Demand) on radiko.jp).

“Ghostroads – A Japanese Rock and Roll Ghost Story,” enjoyed its World-Premiere at the Raindance Film Festival in London on Sept. 25, 2017, and was released by a major Japanese motion picture company and in theaters all across Japan will celebrate the release of the DVD and Blu-Ray on sale all across Japan on June 13, 2018!

About Mike in Tokyo Rogers: Mike has been a professional music/TV/radio/anime-related program producer in Japan since the eighties. He began in the music business in 1977 as lead vocalist with the legendary Los Angeles Punk Band, “The Rotters” (Sit on My Face Stevie Nix.). As a university student, he was assistant to the legendary Rodney Bingenheimer (Rodney on the ROQ – KROQ Los Angeles from 1980 ~ 1981.) Mike was the first and only foreigner in Japanese history to become the General Manager of a major Japanese broadcasting station (TV Tokyo owned InterFM). Top 3 Indies Videos Feb 10, 2018 – Voiid, Marc Platt, Daisy House, The Stephanies (Japan)!

It’s time once again for the Top 3 Indies Artist Video Countdown for Feb 10, 2018!

First up is a band introduced to us by Alex Kish of Wassup Rocker Radio fame. Alex has one of the best rock n roll radio shows on the planet. Alex turns us on onto another band from Australia! They are four rocking ladies who call themselves Voiid! They describe themselves as: “A four piece of hellish girl-shriek guaranteed to make your face melt and your boyfriend cry.” Cool! I’m in. This video is cheap as hell but hilarious. I love it!

Next up is a guy named Marc Platt from Los Angeles who was the frontman for the early 80s legendary L.A. Power Pop group “The Real Impossibles.” Marc Platt has been branching out on his own and had been bubbling under the hood of his 57 Chevy in Hollywood and has now come out with some hot solo wax. The Marc Platt album is entitled, “Big City” and will be released on April 9, 2018. Today’s track is one of my favorites from that album. I suspect that we’re going to be hearing a lot more from Marc Platt very soon!

And at this week’s number one is an artist whose newest song (this song) we will debut tomorrow on my Sunday FM radio show The Mike Rogers Show. They are a hot duo from Long Beach, California and the band’s name is Daisy House and this is their 3rd or 4th time to grace our charts.
